REGULATIONS made by the Minister of Commerce and Consumer Affairs under Section 60 (m) of the Measurement Units Standards and Services Act No.35 of 1995 of the Parliament of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka.

EXAMINATIONS,INSPECTIONS,TESTING,VERIFICATION,AND STAMPING OF WEIGHTS,MEASURES, AND WEIGHING OR MEASURING INSTRUMENT

(1) Fees shall be payable for examination and verification of weights, measures, and weighing or measuring instruments according to the rates specified in .Part IV of Schedule 2 and Part I of Schedule I respectively.

(2) Every weight, measure weighing or measuring instrument which complies with such regulations applicable to it as the case may be and is correct, shall be stamped or marked with the mark prescribed for the purpose in part II of Schedule I. In addition numerals indicating the month and the last two figures of the year shall also be impressed provided it is practicable to do so.

Regulation of Repair Persons, repair Agencies, Sellers or Manufacturers of weights, measures and weighing or Measuring Instruments.

(3) Every person or Agency who desires to obtain a certificate of registration to sell or repair or manufacture and sell any weight or measure or any weighing and measuring instruments shall make an application on that behalf in a form to be prescribed by the Director which shall be accompanied by the fee specified for such registration in Schedule11.

(4) Every Certificate of registration to sell , repair, or manufacture and sell any weight or measure or weighing or measuring instrument –

  1. shall be prepared according to Part" B"of schedule II
  2. shall expire on 31 st day of December of the year in respect of which it is issued;
  3. shall be subject to the condition of the certificate of registration.

(5)All fees payable under this part in respect of certificates of registrations or certified copies thereof shall be paid by means of revenue stamps which shall be cancelled by or under the authority of the Director.
