The activities under Legal Metrology area is given below

1. Establishment of District Verification laboratories and verification centers,
2. Initial Verificationand re-verification of weight, measures, weighing and measuring instruments used in trade,
3. Monitoring and control of manufacture, repair, import and sale of weights, measures, weighing and measuring instruments used in trade,
4. Protection of consumer by implementation of the penal sectionof the Measurement Units, Standards & Services Act,
5. Pattern approval of weights, measures, weighing and measuring instruments used in trade and industry,
6. Monitoring and control of prepackaging,
7. Mandatory calibration of measuring instruments used in industry, health and environmental protection,
8. Consumer education on legal metrology
